Earlier this month, the University of M\u00e1laga<\/strong> concluded the third edition of its Blockchain Technologies Course,<\/strong>\u00a0marking another successful round of industry collaboration, student innovation, and real-world impact.<\/strong><\/p>

Since its launch, the course has<\/span> trained 45 students<\/b>, who have worked on over <\/span>15 industry-driven projects<\/b> across three editions. It\u2019s a unique program in Spain that bridges the gap between academic learning and practical application, consequently helping students contribute to <\/span>real tools, technologies, and teams <\/b>from day one.<\/span><\/p>

The<\/span> Blockchain Technologies Course<\/span><\/a> is designed to equip participants with both a deep understanding of blockchain<\/strong> fundamentals and the practical skills<\/strong> needed to contribute meaningfully to the ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The course combines theoretical grounding with applied learning, culminating in a final project developed in collaboration with real companies<\/strong> from the blockchain sector, including us. It covers the fundamentals of decentralized technology at length and how Bitcoin works at the protocol level, as well as smart contract development with Solidity, Web3 tools, and infrastructure deployment for <\/span>networks like Bitcoin, Lightning, and Ethereum.<\/b><\/p>\n

What sets this course apart is <\/span>its close collaboration with industry. <\/b>Companies not only co-design final projects and act as mentors, they also participate in teaching and co-fund the program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our involvement in this Blockchain Technologies Course is a long-term commitment to nurturing talent, accelerating innovation, and building meaningful connections<\/strong> between research and industry.<\/span><\/p>

Throughout the course, our team remained actively involved by mentoring three students during their final project,<\/strong> offering guidance on both technical challenges and real-world applications. This hands-on support gave students direct exposure to our processes,<\/strong> standards, and the kinds of problems we solve every day at Clovr.<\/span><\/p>

We were also proud to join the final project presentations in early July, where students shared the results of their work, including a new feature now integrated into <\/strong><\/span>NodeGuard<\/a><\/strong>, our open-source Bitcoin treasury management tool.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Real projects. Real impact.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

One of the highlights of this year\u2019s Blockchain Technologies Course was the final project developed by three students mentored by Clovr Labs: <\/strong><\/span>Jos\u00e9 Canto Peral<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Pedro Scarpati<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Rub\u00e9n Rodr\u00edguez Porras<\/span><\/a>. Their objective was to implement Replace-by-Fee (RBF) functionality in NodeGuard.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

RBF<\/span><\/a> is a mechanism that allows pending Bitcoin transactions to be resent<\/strong> with a higher fee, increasing the chances of faster confirmation when the network is congested. For treasury operations, <\/span>this helps prevent delays<\/b> and ensures time-sensitive transactions can be prioritized as needed.<\/span><\/p>

The project was <\/span>technically led by Marcos Fern\u00e1ndez P\u00e9rez<\/a><\/b>, Software Engineer at Clovr Labs, with<\/span> oversight from Aleksandar Yabalkarov<\/a>,<\/b> Head of Product, who also managed the collaboration with UMA. On the academic side, the <\/span>course was led by Professor Isaac Agudo<\/a>,<\/b> from the NICS Lab at UMA.<\/span><\/p>

The <\/span>students not only delivered the feature<\/b>, <\/span>they integrated it into a real open-source environment, working with Clovr\u2019s engineering team to meet production-level standards. Unlike previous years, this wasn\u2019t a simulation or a proof of concept. It was a contribution that has been <\/span>integrated into Clovr\u2019s suite of products <\/b>and now helps improve how our clients manage their Bitcoin transactions.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Blockchain Technologies Course at the University of M\u00e1laga is more than just a course \u2014 it\u2019s a launchpad. Over its three editions,<\/span> it has given students the tools, experience, and confidence to contribute to real blockchain projects,<\/b> many of them going on to join companies, lead client conversations, or even start their own ventures.<\/span><\/p>

At Clovr Labs, we\u2019re proud to be part of that journey. For us, this is about <\/span>creating real value through collaboration<\/b> and allowing the next generation of blockchain professionals to contribute meaningfully to tools and systems used in production today.<\/span><\/p>

We\u2019re incredibly proud of what our student collaborators achieved this year, and we can\u2019t wait to see what comes out of the 2026 cohort<\/span>. We remain committed to supporting technical education<\/b>, open-source development, and innovation in Spain and beyond.<\/span><\/p>
